Connect your domain
Two ways to point a domain you already own at your Stylvia pod. Start in the portal under Your pod → Domains → Add domain, then follow the steps for the option you choose.
Which option should I pick?
| Nameservers | CNAME record | |
|---|---|---|
Works for yourbusiness.com (no www) | Yes | Only if your DNS provider supports CNAME flattening/ALIAS |
Works for www.yourbusiness.com | Yes | Yes |
| Your DNS stays where it is | No, it moves to Stylvia (we copy your records) | Yes |
| Best for | Most small businesses | Domains managed by an IT team |
Option 1: Point your nameservers
- In the portal, add your domain and choose Nameservers. We scan your current DNS and show the records we copied, including email (MX) records.
- Review the list. If anything important is missing, such as a record your email provider asked you to add, tell us before you switch.
- Sign in to the company where you bought the domain (your registrar) and find the Nameservers setting.
- Choose custom nameservers and replace the existing ones with the two Stylvia shows you. They look like
ada.ns.cloudflare.com. - Save. The portal checks automatically and emails you when your domain is active, usually within an hour and always within 24 hours.
Tip: Turn off DNSSEC at your registrar before changing nameservers. You can turn it back on later.
Where to find nameservers at popular registrars
| Registrar | Where to go |
|---|---|
| GoDaddy | My Products → Domain → DNS → Nameservers → Change → "I'll use my own nameservers" |
| Namecheap | Domain List → Manage → Nameservers → "Custom DNS" |
| Squarespace Domains (formerly Google Domains) | Domain → DNS → Domain nameservers → "Use custom nameservers" |
| Porkbun | Domain Management → Details → Authoritative Nameservers → Edit |
| Network Solutions | My Domain Names → Manage → Change Where Domain Points → Domain Name Server (DNS) |
| IONOS | Domains & SSL → ⚙ → Nameservers → "Use custom name servers" |
Option 2: Add a CNAME record
- In the portal, add your domain (we recommend
www.yourbusiness.com) and choose CNAME. - At your DNS provider, add the record the portal shows you:
Type Name / Host Value / Target TTL CNAME wwwsites.stylvia.siteAuto / 1 hour - If the portal also shows a TXT verification record, add that too.
- Click Check now in the portal. Once the record is found, we issue your SSL certificate automatically, usually within 15 minutes.
The bare domain (no www): most DNS providers don't allow a CNAME on
yourbusiness.com itself. If yours supports ALIAS, ANAME or CNAME flattening, point the bare domain at sites.stylvia.site too. Otherwise, set up a redirect (often called "domain forwarding") from yourbusiness.com to https://www.yourbusiness.com at your registrar, or use the nameserver option instead.Troubleshooting
- Still pending after 24 hours? Make sure there are no extra or old nameservers left at your registrar, and that DNSSEC is off.
- "Too many redirects" or SSL errors? Remove any other A, AAAA or CNAME records for the same name, and any proxy or forwarding set up by your old host.
- Email stopped working? Contact us right away. We'll check that your MX and TXT records were copied correctly.
